Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop artists: one who could successfully cross the divide between country and pop, conquering the globe. Swift shed her roots in country music as if she was a second skin and showed that she was the most refined pop sensibility in her time. Swift was the only artist/singer who could be a part of the trending zeitgeist and take it when she went on tour. Her talents are evident in some of the first songs she released, most notably the neodue Tim McGraw. But on her second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift was able to discover the person she was and reach an audience that was large. Fearless went on to become a global hit but not only in the United States (where it received with six platinum awards for Top Ten Hits Love Story and "You Belong with Me") as well as in Canada Australia as well as the U.K. and many other countries. Swift took off to the peak of her game after the release of Speak Now. She grew in popularity throughout her subsequent three albums: Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within the genre she was a part of. Even when she scaled back her strategy with 2020's stripped down sibling releases folklore and Evermore she continued to be atop of the world of pop, a position she kept with the re-recordings of her back catalog along with Midnights her chart-topping synth-heavy 2022 collection.
