Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 children from a poor family children who would grow up together eventually, learned very early on how to conquer of difficulties by using her rich and vivid imagination. Before she learned to write or read, she was making up her own songs. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started performing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. In high school she established herself locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. She relocated to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for his television show that was syndicated. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing with RCA Records. But she resigned from the show in 1974 when her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene had begun charting their collaborative efforts. Parton following the breakup of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and made it to No. The first time a song reached No.
