Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist television host, and proprietor of the online, independent newspaper The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and moved to England at the age of sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in economics. In her 21st year, she was the president of the renowned debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. In the years following when she graduated, she became an important conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured an unbiased critique of the political landscape. Her fame and popularity helped in bringing on a host of well-known contributors to post their views about news from the world of politics and culture. Arianna was famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent in a recall election in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Her rank was 12th on Forbes' list of the most influential media women. At the time, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it is her bond to her mother that formed her. Even in her early childhood she showed the qualities of a leader for which she has gained a reputation. Her move to England came at sixteen to further her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first female and only president from outside the country. In 1972she received a Masters in Economics. In the years following when she graduated, she became a TV host and columnist. In addition, she was a part of an edition of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from the latter.
