Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality as well as the proprietor of the independently free online news publication The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece then moved to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA in Economics. The first graduate from outside the UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Following the graduation ceremony, she became a well-known conservative syndicated journalist. In the years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. Her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to run independently in the California recall vote to succeed the Governor Davis. Apart from this she also led a Detroit project to promote the use of fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as The most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position in the list and in the same year the Guardian listed her on the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her president of the media group, which also included other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father. However, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her. At an early age, she displayed leadership qualities which are still widely admired. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and was accepted into Girton College Cambridge. While in college and was in Cambridge Union, she joined the colleges debating societies, which she later became the first foreign female president. In 1972, she graduated with an MA in Economics. Her career as a journalist and television host was born after graduation. In addition, she was a part of the series Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from him.
