April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic Gold. And at the age of 39 this may be her last opportunity to do so. Still confident but she is not sure. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your highest, and even play well we will get the gold. So I'm going to take the chance too. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and younger sister. At Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. Along with indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track in her pre-college days. But she stood out in this sport. During her high school career she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter in the court for volleyball, according to her bio at the college. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may be working on a project at the beginning of 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned volleyball player before they came together. In reality, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was an all-star volleyball player. She teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's coach. Together together with Kessy Ross, she won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing internationally. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympics. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends which took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, beat them out to win the gold medal. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy at Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross competed for USC Trojans during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. Her career was a success during her time in the college. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. Her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss in her sophomore, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American award. In the two years she played for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them to win two consecutive titles. She had established her place as a legend winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross studied the study of international relations in USC. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She still holds her mother dear. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her, both on and off the beach.
